New Day Cafe Featuring My Artwork

If you are visiting or live in the Melbourne, Florida area, there is a relatively new restaurant onNewDayCafe 192 near Dairy Road called the New Day Cafe. Stop by for a delicious breakfast and, oh, the walls are all featuring my watercolors!

My husband and I enjoy breakfast nearly every Sunday morning with a group of friends from our church. We visited New Day Cafe one week when they had only been open a short time. When we arrived, I noticed their walls were all newly painted, but empty. As Jessica poured coffee at our table I told her that I was a local artist and had some paintings in storage if they were interested in seeing them. I met Keith and Jessica about a week later and showed them my portfolio, and we agreed that the situation would be a good one for all of us. Keith and Jessica are so sweet! They even posted a special page on their website for me!

Enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch in a clean setting, with cheerful waitstaff. Oh, and please tell them Debbie sent you!

Award from Splash Show 2010

This past weekend was the Brevard Watercolor Society’s annual Splash Watercolor Show. I was the recipient of a Merit Award from the show. What an honor to be among the award winners of such a wonderful show! There is an incredible amount of talent in this community and it’s such a treat to see all of the paintings.
This painting is titled Lunch Line.

Thanks to all of my students who came to watch me demonstrating both Saturday and Sunday!

Indiatlantic Art Festival

My husband, Ken, and I participated in the Indiatlantic Art Festival this past weekend. Saturday was chilly and Sunday was windy, but we had a wonderful time!

We talked with lots of people about watercolor painting, upcoming classes and I worked on two paintings during the show.

Here you can see the Coconuts painting I was working on during the show on Saturday and early Sunday morning.

Below are just a few guests looking at the artwork I had on display in the booth.

New classes are starting up in February, and I have a Beginner’s Watercolor Workshop on Saturday January 30th.

Cabbage Patch in Watercolor

I started this piece while still in Michigan last fall. I took the reference photos when I visited my daughter in Moscow, Idaho! I loved the repetition of curved shapes and the splashed of pink and purple in the leaves. I put this one down several times and returned to it over and over again. I finally finished it in March of 2009. It is currently at the Art and Antiques Studio Gallery on Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Art District of Melbourne, Florida.

It has been a very busy week. We had a great show in Vero Beach last week, which has caused me to take lots of time to paint this week to catch up my inventory for this weekend. We will be at the Melbourne Art Festival all weekend. It should be a great show, due to the fact that there are a great many talented artists in this area. If I can get them framed, I will have several of my newest pieces, including the Pink Hibiscus and the latest beach painting from my last post, which I have called Day Break.

If you are in the area, please stop by my booth and say hello! Due to the work preparing for the recent shows I haven’t been able to get any new online lessons prepared. I promise to have some in May, so stay tuned!

Art and Antiques Cooperative Gallery

Just a little update on what is happening in my work life. I have become a member of a cooperative art gallery here in Melbourne in the Eau Gallie (pronounced oh-galley) Art District. The gallery is called, Art and Antiques. I will be going over this afternoon with my first paintings to be hung in the gallery, and I’ll have a small assortment of limited edition prints, greeting cards and miniature fine art pins.
The Eau Gallie Art District, where several, very nice, small galleries exist, hold a gallery walk on the first Friday of every month. Each gallery has an opening with new art, music, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Sometimes there are live musicians playing in the street, and it is a very nice time! After the walk many folks enjoy eating dinner at one of the fine restaurants in the area.
If you are ever in Melbourne, Florida on the First Friday, come and see the beautiful artwork, enjoy a stroll in old Eau Gallie and say hello!
I have a few street fairs coming up in April. To stay tuned with where I will be please visit my website: http://watercolorworksart.com.
