This book is dedicated to my grandson, Logan, who has been fascinated with bugs since he could crawl. I can hardly wait to share it with him…and with you!
I wanted to share a few of the pen and ink illustrations that I have been working on for Wayman Publishing and author Jaimie Engle. The title of the book is Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light. This fun and exciting story is expected to be published just in time for Christmas. I can’t wait for everyone to be able to read this book.
But for now, I can only show bits and pieces of my part. This is the preliminary illustration for the first chapter.
On Friday I visited a 3rd grade class at a local school with author Jaimie M. Engle. We talked about Jaimie’s upcoming book, her writing, my illustration, and our collaboration process. So much fun, and the students were a delight!
After our presentation I showed them how to draw the faces of the two main characters in the book and they drew along as I did. They had such thoughtful questions and so much talent! I was as impressed with them as they seemed to be with Jaimie and me.
Special thanks to Jaimie Engle and Ms. Kane for inviting me!
I have been working with author Jaimie Engle on her new book project Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light. The book is due out near Christmas time, and I am thoroughly enjoying the project. This is a detail of the cover, which was just completed this week.
The cover was created on 90 lb. Arches cold press, and completed in watercolor. I hope you enjoy it.
Keep watching as I hope to post more soon. Be sure to visit Jaimie’s website to learn more about her, her work, and the details of this project with Wayman Publishing.
Special thanks to Ginger at Ginger’s Cafe and Gourmet Shoppe in Farmington, Michigan for hosting a tea party, book reading, and signing event. The food and tea were wonderful and I enjoyed spending a little time reading with the kids (and parents) who attended. It was fun to experience another tea party, but this time, truly from a child’s perspective. Instead of fancy traditional tea sandwiches, Ginger served up peanut butter and jelly on whole grain bread for the kids. Heart shaped treats were part of the dessert portion of the event. I was delighted with my chicken salad croissant and the tea was wonderful. Thanks, again, Ginger, for such a nice time.
I was also so happy to see some old friends who visited, Pete and Martha and Blake!
It was so nice of them to drive down to visit and purchase a book. Pete and Martha were our neighbors when we lived in the “chilly mitten” of Michigan. We enjoyed having them as neighbors!
Book signing events in Florida are currently being scheduled. Please join me as we celebrate tea with friends, and help to support Promise in Brevard.
I am now scheduling book signing events in Michigan and in Florida. If you know of someone who would like to host a book signing please contact me. I bring fun items and photos to show how I developed the illustrations for the book, plus extras items to accompany the book. I would love to meet with you and sign your personal copy of Lilly Vanilly’s Tea Party!
