Clifton and the Arrow of Light – Book Cover Revealed

Finally, the full cover is completed and sent to the publisher. This cover wraps around the entire book, so the shield in the center is approximately where the spine of the book will be. This has been such a wonderfully fun project! I had to do a lot of research as I am not that familiar with Medieval themes. I had to create my own armor-look, and I even used an old silver pitcher I have to help me to see how to do the shiny surfaces of the armor. This painting was done on 90 pound Arches cold-press paper. I used Winsor-Newton and Holbein brand watercolor pigments. It took about four weeks to complete from start to finish.

I am currently working on the pen and ink illustrations for the start of each chapter in the upcoming book. I have had the opportunity to read the book so I could know what to draw. I can’t wait for the release of the book, so you can enjoy it as well. Great story by Jaimie Engle. To learn more about Jaimie and her work, please visit her website: jaimiengle.com.
